PEOPLE
We are a family business with totally five craftsmen, one artist
and two nice ladies for our shop and office.

Hanne Dreutler and Arthur Zirnsack

Hanne Dreutler, educated in graphic,
design and craft and with practice at Flygsfors, Målerås
and Kosta glass factories. Together with my husband, arthur zirnsack,
masters blower in German, Swiss and many Swedish glass factory
(the latest was kosta-Boda) we found Studio Åhus 25 years
ago.
Now we can be prud and say with satisfaction that the way was long,
but happy, and progresional. Our philosophi of high quality in
material, craft and art is now appreciated all over the world.
The most pleasant result is that our new generation follows in our
footsteps, but with their own and very perssonal ways of expression.

Martin Zirnsack

I started to work in my father's studio
in 1982 after one year at the Glass-school in Orrefors. Glass blowing,
grinding, sand blasting, design and product development is what
I'am working with.

Lennart Nissmark

My name is Lennart Nissmark and I am
born in 1964 in Kristianstad. I began as an apprentice to master
blower Arthur Zirnsack and his wife, the artist Hanne Dreutler.
Their love for glass was transmitted to me and I started developing
my own ideas of both objects and sculptures. I belong to "the
new generation" and my journey has just begun.

Robert Phillips

Robert Phillips began working with glass
in his early twenties as a part-time assistant. He held no previous experience
working with glass. Phillips focused on his training, and soon a part-time
exercise developed into a full-time pursuit. His sense of aesthetics and his
interest led him abroad to work with glass. In Sweden Phillips developed his
skills and techniques that he applies to the pieces he now creates. Almost all
of his training has come through the studio environment.

Phillips has worked as a free-lance glassblower for
several artists including Rod Adamson, Keith Bump, Hanne Dreutler, Arthur Zirnsack,
Mark Lorenzi, Andrew Magdanz and Susan Shapiro, Louis Sclafani, and Mark Weiner,
He has also worked in several galls studios including Avon Place Glass (MA, Louis
Sclafani-Belltower Glassworks (NY), Studio Åhus (Åhus, Sweden) and Watermark
Glass.

Statement

I began working with glass by chance, as part-time work through
a friend. Allure and Interest hae been transformed into a full-time commitment. The material
is captivitating that makes the work a rewarding process.

Working with several artists with different styles and techniques
has helped to broaden my skills and open doors for new ideas. I work to reveal the unique
and surprising characteristics of glass. I pay close attention to form and light and many
pieces are hot-worked and cold worked for their special effects has just begun.
